Highline Beta and Aviva Canada Announce New Cohort of Safe x Connected Cities Accelerator
The Safe x Connected Cities Accelerator powered by Highline Beta in partnership with Aviva Canada’s Take Back Our Roads initiative is kicking off a second cohort with three startups selected to be part of the pilot program accelerator. Working closely with Aviva Canada and Highline Beta experts, the second cohort will continue to take on the challenge of making an impact on road safety in Canadian communities.
The selected startups will aim to support cycling and pedestrian safety solutions through accurate detection, enhancements to existing infrastructure and more. This couldn’t be more relevant as our cities adapt to the new normal, where the road safety and transportation landscape continues to evolve.
“The Accelerator partnership with Highline Beta has proven to be an ideal program for Take Back Our Roads, our social impact platform. We’re delighted to welcome these three new startups and support them as they bring their solutions to life.”
Catherine Brown, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility at Aviva Canada.
Meet The Startups
The startups selected for the Safe x Connected Cities second cohort include:
- AutoGuardian by SmartCone is designed to empower municipalities to improve traffic flow and make streets and traffic intersections safer for all. Its first-of-its-kind, intelligent safety infrastructure uses sensor fusion technology to create awareness of vehicles, autonomous shuttles, cyclists and pedestrians, giving everyone the time to act and be safe on the road.
- Numina measures what, where, when, and how things move in streets and open space, with proprietary sensors that leverage computer vision while protecting personal privacy. This data helps city planners, mobility companies, and other stakeholders design safer and more accessible systems for people, bicycles, wheelchairs, strollers, and more.
- Weatherlogics provides detailed, future weather information for all major highways in Canada and the U.S. so communities know where weather is disrupting transportation and how future weather systems will affect roads and highways.
“Kicking off a new accelerator program is always exciting, and we look forward to working with the selected startups and helping them succeed. Each one is focused on using innovative, AI-based technology to make roads safer for everyone, which is precisely our goal with the Safe x Connected Cities accelerator.”
