Highline Beta x Together for Safer Roads Partner to Accelerate Road Safety
Highline Beta, a new venture development firm and Together for Safer Roads (TSR), a coalition of leading private sector companies driven to save lives, today announced a strategic partnership as part of Highline Beta’s Safe x Connected Cities Accelerator and TSR’s Global Entrepreneur Program (GEP)
Safe x Connected Cities Accelerator, powered by Highline Beta aims to bring new technologies to market and scale startups with a proven ability to tackle mobility, smart city and road safety. Launched with support from the founding partner Aviva Canada, this accelerator puts a renewed focus on bringing together startups, enterprise and community partners like TSR to build, test and deploy new solutions. Likewise, TSR’s Global Entrepreneur Program connects early-stage companies with road safety experts at multinational companies and universities to reimagine solutions that reduce crashes and fatalities on the world’s roads.
“We’re excited to partner with TSR because they’re a leading organization supporting key initiatives to make our roads safer,” says Ben Yoskovitz, Founding Partner at Highline Beta. “Solving complex problems like road safety is a collaborative effort, and we believe working with TSR is going to improve the potential connectivity and scalability of the partnerships we build between corporates and startups.”
Road safety is a critical, global public health challenge. “The vision to improve road safety does not only involve vehicles and drivers, it also involves mobility, city infrastructures and every road user, including the most vulnerable like bicyclists and pedestrians,” says David Braunstein, President at TSR. “We find that Highline’s program is complementary to our own mission to bend the curve on road traffic collisions so they are no longer one of the leading causes of death and injuries worldwide. We are happy to find this innovative initiative to be complementary to our own program, and encourage startups to apply for both.”
Highline Beta will work closely with TSR to identify the right startups for both Safe x Connected Cities Accelerator and TSR’s GEP, while also leveraging TSR’s vast safety coalition network, dedicated to advancing connectivity, smart city solutions and road safety.
Applications for the Safe x Connected Cities Accelerator are open to all early-stage startups at:https://highlinebeta.com/accelerators/safeconnected.
There’s an opportunity to leverage the latest technology to strengthen safety and mobility in our communities, so we can all move around safely. Some examples include: smart signals that can slow down vehicle traffic in high congestion zones, creating responsive intersections; vehicle sensors that help prevent collisions; software focused on improving driver’s behaviours in real time, technology that improves cyclist/pedestrian safety and solutions that improve connectivity between everyone sharing the road.
We encourage all early-stage startups working on relevant solutions to apply by September 27th, 2019.
